Strength Training Activating Nathalia District

Gym Groups

Includes exercises using the person's own body weight or added weights to stimulate the muscles to gradually grow stronger, over time

As we grow older some loss of muscle strength occurs due to hormone changes. However, loss of strength also occurs due to lack of physical activity. Older people can increase muscle strength with a gradual, progressively increased ‘strength training' program.

The ‘Foothold On Safety' Senior Strength & Balance Exercise Program offers an enjoyable, safe & effective individualised (progressive resistance exercise) program in a group setting suitable for older or less able adults.

  • Weights, exercise bikes and other equipment
  • 1 hour session start at 9am, 10am and 11am

Gentle Strength and Balance Group

  • Advance group begins 9.30am to 10.30am
  • Beginners group begins 10.30am to 11.30am

Tai Chi

Is a gentle exercise, focusing on fluid, circular movements that are relaxed and slow in tempo. Breathing is slow and through the nose. Tai Chi improves balance, aids concentration, relaxes the body and allows the ‘life-force' (Qi) (Chi) to flow unimpeded through the body.

Tai Chi originated in ancient China as a form of martial art and is now practiced world-wide as an exercise for a healthy mind and body. Although an art with great depth of knowledge and skill the basics are easy to learn and it soon delivers its health benefits. Tai Chi provides a lifetime journey of enjoyment.

The ‘Foothold On Safety' Senior Strength & Balance Exercise Program teaches a modified form of the Sun Style for beginners to advanced, in a small group program suitable for all.

  • starts at 9.00am until 10.00am
  • start at 10.30am until 11.30


Where: Nathalia Sports & Community Centre, Robertson St Nathalia

When: Every Thursday (Except public holidays and school holidays)

Who: Qualified Instructors

Cost: There is a small fee. Morning tea is provided
