District Nursing

Why would you need a District Nurse?

  • Nursing care, education and referrals to Allied Health Services
  • Nursing support after an operation or illness
  • Wound care
  • Hygiene Assistance
  • Medication Management
  • Palliative care (End of life care)

Our district nurses are:

  • Nurses who provide nursing care to people in their own homes.

How to access this service:

  • By a doctor's referral
  • Family, carers and friends can ring and ask to speak to the District Nurses
  • Referral from local and other hospitals
  • Visiting relatives can be referred by other district nursing services

District Nursing Fees:

  • Are guided by The Department of Human Services under the Home and Community Care (HACC)
    fee and self assessment policy
  • The concession fee is $3.80 per visit. That can be adjusted according to circumstances for the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) clients - fees are subsidised by DVA


  • Monday to Friday - 8.00am to 4.30pm
  • Weekends - 8.00am to 12.00midday
